Be still my heart

OK, so it isn't the healthiest thing in the world and many people stopped eating pork in public a long time ago but I, like Elvis A. Presley, love bacon (notice I'm referring to Elvis in the present tense). Love it. So imagine my surprise and delight at finding a bacon candy bar at Harry's/Whole Foods today. It cost $2.49, though price was a nonissue. I had to try it. It's made by Vosges and the Web site shows it retailing for $7.50 per bar. Now that might have been an issue considering it's about the size of two and a half Hershey's miniatures put together. I tried the milk chocolate version and was pleased.

Then, on another Saturday market spree, what do I find but Baconnaise? I didn't bite, but I think I will after reading the testimonials on the site and a recipe for deviled eggs that subbed Baconnaise for mayo. Their blog features more recipes, in case you, too, are ready to go whole hog. One thing on the site confused me though. How is this product vegetarian safe?
