Flourishing

No matter how atypical your "thing" is, chances are there is someone out there who relishes it as much as you do. Possibly more. There are numerous little things that count and high atop our list are loves of paper and fonts. It wasn't until several years ago that we learned the term for the overall category -- ephemera. Yes, that's what you call the stuff we flock to at estate sales while everyone else is fighting over furniture! And later we learned about ornamental writing & flourishes (we thought it was all calligraphy) and foundries and specimen books. Seldom do you run into everyday people who share your passion, and that's a good thing because it means that when you do come across some sentimental stuff at a sale you can go through the pile in peace. But what about all those sales you miss? Thanks to the Internet, you can catch some items on auction sites. You can also read the blogs and Web sites of kindred souls who are willing to share their experiences. Here are first hand accounts of a few soul mates who are even more into it than we are. Fancy that!

The Letterer's Blog, and SWAPATORIUM. Enjoy!
