If you appreciate the thrill of the hunt when it comes to shopping, you know how gratifying it is when you run across an item you love. Especially a vintage item that you may never see again. We experienced that recently when we found a photo album we really love. We were delighted with the album and thought it was precious until we got it home and found something even more cherished inside. These calligraphy cards! The detail and artistic nature of the lettering and flourishes delight us each time we look at them. What a pleasant surprise! Fast forward to today when we happened upon a two-panel silver frame with a weathered patina and a great deal of detail. As we were editing items out of our shopping cart, this frame swayed us with the font on the cards in place of photos. We were sold.

The frame was a find, but as things turned out, the real treasure was inside.

The advertising reminded us of text usually found on old photos because it was the back of two wonderful vintage photographs. This pair of siblings was immortalized by the Herman Wunder photography studio on Fulton Street in Brooklyn, NY. What a surprise! We always try to look back through the lens when viewing old photos, hoping to ferret out a story. It appears that these two are definitely related and from an affluent family. The clothes tell it all. The details of her two-piece frock of quality materials indicate professional work. And his knickers and ascot style tie are also signs that they may have been to the manor born. Who knows where these individuals are today? What's impressive is that these photos have remained together all these years. Surprise, surprise, surprise!
